Understanding the highlighting
To make the differences in the files easy to spot ComparePSD highlights the elements that do not match between the files.
Since Adobe Photoshop files may have several nested folders, ComparePSD highlights not only the mismatching element (such as an effect, a layer or a folder), but also the folders that contain that element.
To make it easier to distinguish the mismatching element from the folders that contain it ComparePSD uses a number of different colours. The element that differs between the files is always highlighted with the dark-red colour:

The top-level folder that contains the mismatching element is always highlighted with the pink colour:

If there are folders that contain the mismatching element and are contained in the top-level folder, they are highlighted with the colours ranging from the pink to the dark-red as shown above.
